Marinas in general have a problem with pollution. If you've never done so, think about the activities that take place at a marina: boat cleaning, repair, fueling, head discharge, and exposure to runoff from storm water. These problems are a growing concern and are often a result of carelessness from the very people who love to take advantage of the fun that can be had on the water. There is no arguing the need for increased awareness of the environmental quality of our waterways. Lucky for us, organizations like The Seabin Project are actively doing something about the problem. They have developed a floating bin that can be installed at marinas to catch trash, oil, fuel, and detergents via a pump and filtering system.
